"The communication was poor I contacted them twice about check in time and never received a reply. Apart from that the stay was perfect. Staff were great especially the young dark haired girl in breakfast who was an absolute credit."

"Hotel ideally situated just off the A12. But there is no road noise that disturbed our sleep.
Room was nice and clean well stocked with tea and coffee, soap, shampoo, hairdryer and iron.
Breakfast was very good and kept us topped up for most of the day.
Although we didn't eat in the hotel, the menu had enough variety and was decently priced.
Bar had a decent selection of alcoholic beverages, and not too badly priced.
My only complaint would be that the towels in our room were a bit...

"I absolutely detested the evening meal service available because it was premised on a "minimal waiter/waitress service model. The idea was that you order and pay for your meal at the bar and it is brought to your numbered table when ready by the same staff member. "The rooms. at the Essex Golf and Country Club are very nice and super clean. Be aware there is no in-room ac that we could find and just the smallest desk fan in the room but perhaps this is only an issue for 3 weeks a year!
We arrived late (9.30pm) and check was smooth, went to the room and unpacked and notice in the room directory suggested the bar was open until 10.30pm. We meander up only to be informed that last orders was at 10pm so we would only be permitted to purchase one drink. Then...

"Check in was great, nice & easy and the room was ready straight away.
The room was a twin, a great size but very tired. The carpet could do with changing and the shower sealant definitely needs re-doing as it was black in areas.
Breakfast was plentiful, could have been warmer but nothing too drastic. It even a separate gluten free section, including its own toaster, was impressed with that.
There is also a Toby Carvery just opposite
It served us well for 1 night but would not want to stay any...
