"Was greated by a nice young welcoming guy. He was friendly and attentive. Settled in micely in a good room, nice walk in shower. Shower couldve been a bit more powerful, but wasgood enough. The bar was nice though felt a bit chilly and there was lingering musky smell... beer was kept in good conditions and a nice cider. Food was lovely and nicely cooked. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of coffee and lots of orange juice. Would recommend this place."

"Room was first class and very comfortable. The room itself was beautiful and all fixtures and fittings were quality. Very quiet and all we could hear off and on was a hooting owl. "

"Alice who owns the property goes above and beyond what she needs to do she knows every guest by there 1st name had a meal in the Cantonese restaurant (which alice runs) on Friday and the food was 1st class breakfast there a choice a good choice all the staff are very friendly beds very comfortable and clean , showers nice and hot decor could do with a up date but to be honest I wasn’t there to look at the decor there was a group of 6 and we would definitely go back "

"Wonderful place to stay and would stay again. Only negative things were that the room was very warm (no instructions on how to turn the heating down) and there was a really bright green (escape route?) light above the door which was on through the night and so made it difficult to fall asleep. Both issues easily remedied. My companion had no issues with her room so would thoroughly recommend!"

"Fabulous room, only slightly let down by empty picture hooks and non working lights. Bed is 2 singles pushed together which made it difficult to cuddle up, but otherwise very comfortable night."

"Very friendly reception from the landlord Gareth who provided a most enlivening atmosphere in the Duke of Wellington ie a darts match for the men and Easter wreath making for the ladies. No food unfortunately but we found an excellent Italian restaurant in nearby Northallerton. The courtyard room was clean and comfortable, marred only by a very awkward shower - not easy to enter, due to lack of space."

"The staff were exceptional as we had gone to visit a very poorly friend. Our plans changed yesterday and today hourly and we were allowed to stay in their carpark until we left just after 2 pm. Our friend is home from hospital but have not had chance to catch up but we enjoyed our time in Thirsk a beautiful place great for shopping "
