"Staff were all really friendly and couldn’t do enough for us, free room upgrade to a junior suite with a hot tub absolutely made our day. Spa is included and you can go in it at any time without having to book or pay extra and it’s open late at night. 11am check out which is great as a lot of places do 10am which we find really early. Really good food in the pub. Really relaxing stay. This is our second time here and we will return. "

"Was room was great, the staff were friendly and welcoming, especially as we had our small dog with us and the food was delicious. The surrounding grounds were beautifully kept too with a good amount of attention to detail. Parking was good too, especially as I had a big trailer with me."

"We stayed here for one night, half board. The location is fantastic, with amazing views and a short walk to the lakeside. We enjoyed both meals very much, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The bars and restaurants were nicely furnished and clean, and our room was a good size. "This is unique experience. With outstanding views of Windermere and Ambleside. Try and avoid wedding weekends. As the menu is limited but still a lot of great choice and variety. Staff could not be more helpful and attentive. Makes a huge difference to a trip, I hope the management team take note. We stayed in the cottage's which were great for us as we travelled as a 6. And gave us some extra privacy and ability to spend the afternoon on our own terrace together which was great. But others may have found that irritating as we had all expected to be in the main house and had booked months in advance (albeit through Expedia). But it worked out for us. And to be honest the check-in staff member made this totally work for us. The communal areas around the hotel however looked tired and are in need of some work. Main hotel perfect. But things like the Jacuzzi has seen better days and some of the decor in the cottages, and bathrooms could do with some varnish and an overall modernisation. Styling perfect just dated/tired. Esp for the roommate paid. Dinner was very very good and I’d recommend booking for at least one night of your trip. And breakfast was also excellent. Huge range. High quality. Walks from the hotel and around Windermere are sublime. Lots of info available to suit all Abilities."

"Stayed at Low Wood Bay Resort & Spa for 3 nights and honestly… the thermal journey is the only reason I’d come back. Rooms are pretty meh—dated and not the cleanest. We were in room 166 and there were visible spill stains on the wall (not great), but it did have incredible lake views. It was also super convenient being so close to the elevator to take you to the spa. Read the fine print: access to the main pool (with infrared sauna + eucalyptus steam) is limited to 2.5 hours. Family time is early morning, and adults-only is 5:30–8pm, which felt oddly restrictive and honestly a bit like a bait-and-switch. We ended up booking the thermal journey + massage for $400, which is a lot. That said, the spa itself is next level—one of the best I’ve been to. Outdoor hot tubs, multiple saunas… highlights were the wood-fired sauna, salt sauna, indoor whirlpool, and the “Lost in the Clouds” massage (incredible—should’ve gone longer). Food at the hotel is subpar. We couldn’t get into Blue Smoke because I didn’t book in advance but overall options were limited. Breakfast is included (7:30–10am), but it’s the same spread daily and just okay. £12/day for parking. Location is great—about 10 minutes to Ambleside and Grasmere—but you’ll definitely need a car since there aren’t good dining options on-site. If you enjoy walking, there are beautiful hikes and trails right outside the hotel, which was a big plus. Staff was friendly."

"We love this site in Windermere and Top Lodge was a pleasure to stay in. The rooms were all clean and the beds were comfortable. Looked for a pet friendly option and this was perfect for us. The weather wasn't great and so we watched alot of TV, the only downside was the signal was poor but hey, nothing major."
