I was told I could check in earlier if I upgraded to a more expensive room, but I decided not to and instead left my luggage at reception before heading to a wedding. "A good overnight stop on our journey to the south coast! Very friendly staff in the bar welcomed us, and were extremely helpful. Nicely decorated and spacious rooms. A good choice of decent meals on the bar menu available in the pub, so convenient not having to dine elsewhere. Excellent value, and both the evening and morning staff were great. Yes, a bit of road noise, and extractor noise heard in our 2 rooms, but we are used to silent nights living in a rural location!"

"The room, separate to and, around the back of the pub was stunning. It was warm and cosy with a controllable radiator for heat. Bed was very comfortable and we had a great night sleep. No shower, but a lovely bath with a handheld shower head. Perfect place to stay before starting the Thames Path. Food was elevated pub fare, and brekkie was the standard full English."
