"The room felt quite old and had a noticeable musty smell. There was also a significant amount of dust in the room, and I could see dust particles floating in the air. During my stay, my skin became irritated and itchy, which may have been related to the room environment. I hope the hotel can improve its cleaning standards, especially by vacuuming more thoroughly and addressing the musty odor. This would make the stay much more comfortable for future guests."

Although the dining room was closed for renovation, the breakfasts and dinners were delicious, and delivered to our room. "Honestly the highlight of our entire trip. One night and it exceeded every single expectation we had. The kaiseki dinner was absolutely brilliant. The in-room private onsen facing the lake was just incredible. And the staff were something else, so kind, so attentive, so genuinely invested in making sure we had the best time. "Hotel is about 1.5 km from train station, walkable if not with much luggage, or a short 1000 yen taxi ride away. Room was quite large, and while room had private bathroom, the large, indoor public bath on the first floor was very nice and relaxing, very clean and large. There was also a smaller outdoor bath on a covered patio and garden area, with views of Mt Fuji (but not while actually sitting in the bath due to a fence to maintain privacy). "This place had an old hotel, and I felt old just being there. The price was very expensive and the room was smaller than the picture implied. Regarding the reason for going there - the lake area filled with foreigners with little to do and eat. We walked around the city trying to find a place and there were so few choices and mostly for tourists. I would not come back ever again."

"A gem of a hotel close to the lakeshore, the hotel was spotless and our first experience of ryokan, playing out our beds and enjoying the simplicity. A konbini and lots of restaurants meant great choice for food (including ice-cream!), the 15km route around the lake was good for a bike ride (bikes and scooters to hire from the hotel). The onsen was very relaxing. Plenty of parking and the staff were very helpful, friendly and fun - a great location all round."
