"I have traveled extensively and stayed in many hotels and I wouldn’t recommend this establishment. The food was excellent and I would recommend booking into the restaurant for dinner. The rooms were in my opinion a very poor standard. Cramped, jaded, dated decor and housekeeping was below par. The bed was hard and uncomfortable, as were the pillows. There was no attention to detail. The rest of the hotel followed a similar pattern. Whilst I appreciate that this is an historical building, I think...

"We enjoyed a four night midweek stay at this beautiful property. The decor is truly stunning throughout the hotel , the restaurant excellent and staff attentive and helpful. The grounds are extensive and beautiful and the hotel is situated in a very rural area with plenty of interesting places to visit within easy driving distance. The dark night skies make for excellent star gazing!"

Very poor checkin process - while there were many staff running around, we were left standing (feeling very much in the way) for a long time before anyone could be found to check us in. The room itself was nice but poorly laid out for 2 suitcases. Most seriously, it was boiling hot, and the window barely opened, leading to a miserable night’s sleep. "Room was lovely and clean and we had a modern bathroom. Staff were very friendly, food was excellent and service was great. Parking was easy and cheap (6 pounds I think) and the property is gorgeous. We had a room upstairs which was fantastic, our friends had one down the corridor which was different and not as nice. The only thing was the bed - it was extremely hard and impacted our ability to sleep well. If there was a topper or a different mattress I would stay again in a pinch, or just stay...
