"First room was unusable due to extreme noise all night, and I only got moved the next day after reporting it. The first night was therefore effectively lost and no refund was given. Also concerning: the hotel took full credit card details, including the security code (CVV), and wrote them down on a piece of paper, which is unsafe practice. Overall, poor handling of a serious issue and questionable payment security procedures. Expedia offered only a small goodwill credit, which did not reflect...

"The hotel was stunning, with an antique elevator and wonderful staff who upgraded my room to a full sea view suite! the bed was so comfy and ginormous, and the bath was incredible. The whole place was super clean and modern. I will say, the room is showing signs of wear. Orange (tan?) stains on the marble, bubbling wallpaper under the mirror over the sink and marks on the paintwork, but none of this could take away from the immaculately clean room and gorgeous bed."

"The staff were amazing from the front desk Darcy and mum to the night porter, who could not do enough for us brilliant. Would recommend to all ages and jealous that we’re not still there. Carnival was great; only thing is if you’re down for this event next year, find parking first early, as it’s at a premiere. Massive shout out again to all. 👍😘"

"Staff were extremely helpful and very friendly. No bar or breakfast while we were there but we would go to the glass house for brunch and that was great. The exterior of the building needs to be invested in to improve the look of the building"

"Very spacious room, clean and comfortable. Need a shelf of some kind in shower for shower gel etc, made showering a bit tricky. Could also do with fans in room when hot weather. Building looking a bit tired but super location and clean. Would definitely stay again. Fridge in room was a bonus in the hot weather."

"Starting with the positives... the reception staff were very friendly and the location of the hotel is prime on Eastbourne seafront with a short walk into the Town Centre. The hotel has its own parking behind the hotel for £6 a night and there was almost always a space available. Otherwise there was free street parking from 6pm-8am on neighbouring streets. The hotel has its own bars, restaurants and ballroom. I stayed for 5 nights total. Owing to the age of the building I didn't expect air...

"We knowingly booked a small room. The room itself was clean and decent enough. It was an extremely hot day so could have done with A/C or at least a better fan than that provided. The bathroom was too tiny to be practical. There was no shelf in the tiny shower and there was not enough room to bend down and pick shower gel off the floor. Overall the price was very reasonable so we were not expecting the world. Staff were friendly, the room was clean, and the bed was comfortable."

"Room needs a deep clean. Dirty water drip marks on door to bathroom and also some dried brown streeks. Wardrobe had dead inserts on the shelf and base. Towel was worn around the edges, wearing thin and small holes not what I expect from a hotel. No housekeeping unless you paid extra. So had to use the same towel of 5 days. Toiletaries supplied for day 1. The windows were filthy, did not look like they had been cleaned for a year. Externally, the hotel needs significant maintenance. Wifi hardly...

"I don’t recommend this hotel. Its only positive qualitiy is location. The first room we were given (3rd floor, lift out of order) smelt of stale tobacco smoke (despite 'no smoking' signs). We asked to change. The next room had an unwashed bathroom floor. The 3rd was small but we took it because it was cleaner and had a better view. When I noticed there was only one bath towel, I went down to speak to the male receptionist. I collected the extra towel from his office but the teabags he agreed to...

"Location is perfect for the beach and walking distance to restaurants. Parking is horendous. The lift didn't work when we visited, which was not ideal for 4 people with health and mobility issues, we were on the 2nd floor. The staires are quite rickety and winding. There wasn't air conditioning, but they did provide a fan. Our toilet seat was broken, we did report it, but was told it was a bank holiday weekend so nothing could be done. "At arrival, the building was beautiful to behold- unbeknownst to us, it would hold a number of things that wouldnt quite match the outer beauty of the building. The staff were friendly enough, and the overall vibe in the lobby was cozy and gave a vintage vibe. "The hotel was clean and comfortable. On arrival, I was made to feel welcome and the hotel policies explained in a friendly manner including the WiFi password. The room was cleaned during my stay and there were complimentary amenities left in reception for guests outside of normal hours . This was a nice touch to be able to get extra milk for coffee late at night. Lovely friendly staff ,and great security . The location of the property is excellent. I would return again ."
