"The counter, breakfast staff were helpful and pleasant. What I did not like and should have made a fuss about was the evening meal. The fries were over cooked and hard. The onion rings had been cremated, dark brown and burnt. I left half the meal as it was disgusting. I thought then and hoped the morning breakfast wasn’t going to be the same. Luckily it was excellent, must have a different chef for evening and breakfast meals."

No walk in showers which make it difficult for people not able to use bath. Was told well if it’s only for one night did it matter and it was business people using hotel Room 111 opposite housekeeping i had to complain three times from 8am-10 for noisy chatter and Five staff were outside my door laughing and joking. "Check in was a bit antiquated. Paper and pen in the 21st century. Also 2 reception desks but with unequal queues. Bend linen a bit starchy, and of course they all use that industrial cleaner from sketchleys which smells terrible The towels smelt terrible as well It really should be that the linen and towels are cleaned with a domestic soap powder like aerial or bold, or with a conditioner like comfort so that customers get the wow factor of the room smelling like home rather than a hospital."

"We had a lovely time, just a few things that slightly dampened the experience. Need black out blinds in the family room as the light was streaming through until late and with the heat as well the children couldn't get to sleep until it went dark. The gastro pub food l would give a miss in future, very bland, dry and of poor quality but high prices. We would 100% come back though."

There were no spare pillows in the room (I don't want to have to ask), no toilet brush in the rest room which is fine if maid service makes a good job of cleaning the toilet; which they didn't. Beginning of mould in shower could have done with a deep clean in bathroom.No air conditioning in rooms really isn't good enough in this day and age. Also used for corporate clients/company retreats/training and they seemed a bit rowdy, need to actively manage...

"Pros: lovely breakfast, nice aspect to the room and comfortable bed. Staff are delightful Cons: bathroom is a little tired - mildew and taps not fully working - but workable. "

"We were unable to sleep in the room due to the fact it was too hot and had no air con, so we had to leave. If a hotel does not have air con it needs to be made clearer when making the booking, especially y in the summer time."

"The reception staff were excellent so polite and helpful. Great classy hotel. Service is excellent in all areas. Room was very quirky but in a nice way . Very dark wallpaper lovely huge bed and linens. Breakfast was ok for free. Capuccino was delicious. Would we go back? Definitely just not for a long while as it is being restored in September so closed for a long time. Cant wait to see refurbed hotel . "
