"The staff was exceptional. We arrived early before our room was ready and the staff took care of our luggage and directed us to a delightful afternoon tea while we waited. We blew an electrical breaker trying to use an American hairdryer and they promptly got the electricity fixed. They were very flexible with dinner reservations, working around our daytime activities."

"Very poor value for money. First, the check in was problematic because the owner was not around so we didn't know what to do. The property's location is very far from the center of town - 30 minutes by bus! Finally they were refurbishing the property so it felt a bit unsafe to leave the car in the yard for fear of falling objects. Worse of all, we were not warned abot said construction work and the builders started working at 8 AM so obviously we weren't able to sleep! We were offered no...

"My daughter and I spent 2 nights at the Scotsman. It is a lovely hotel very close to the Royal Mile and just over the bridge from the train station. A great location. The hotel is beautiful and iconic. The carpets in the hallway seemed a bit worn, but our room was very spacious and comfortable. The staff was helpful, and the hotel had everything we needed. I would definitely stay here again. "

"Pros - Staff were really lovely, room was clean and location excellent. Cons - Room was on ground floor underneath a busy street/hill so was very noisy through the night despite double glazing. Free seating at breakfast tricky for a solo traveller - it was very busy and my seat (despite my book on the table) was taken by the time I returned with my food and I had to hover for a while for another seat."

"The reception and front desk staff were consistently kind and helpful. The location is excellent - very convenient for getting around, with plenty of things to see and do just minutes away. As a solo female traveler, I did find that there wasn’t much within comfortable walking distance of the hotel after about 9 p.m. The hotel does have a cute bar that stays open until around 11, but it felt fairly quiet and not very lively when I was there alone.
