"Great value for money in a nice location. The staff were very nice in particular the owner and the room was comfortable and fine. The full English breakfast was served very quickly and was lovely. This is a thriving pub and a true find."

"This was our second stay at Beamish, as expected the room was a good size, as we upgraded again. We always enjoy our visits to the North East and you can not fault the staff and the food at breakfast and dinner. All staff are very friendly and helpful. The main reason for our visit was to visit Beamish Open Air Museum again and on this occasion to visit the Light Trail, which is just located at the side of the Hotel. Final note on parking, there are plenty of spaces and EV charge points...

"Strict check in time of 3 pm when kiosk opens - then it wouldn’t accept overseas postcode so staff had to check me in anyway. Spacious comfortable room. Enjoyable breakfast buffet - added at extra cost when booking. Convenient location just a short walk to Durham Old Town - Castle and Cathedral. "

"We returned to Lumley Castle for our 50th anniversary - probably our 8th visit over that time. On arrival the receptionist was welcoming and friendly and we enjoyed returning to a four poster room in the castle. Staff service throughout the hotel - room, bar, dining room was excellent. The hotel was beautifully decorated for the Christmas season and it was warm and clean. Our friends in a courtyard room were very happy with their experience. We enjoyed a fabulous dinner from the long menu...
