"I stayed at Aaron's cottage for two nights and it was a great experience. The cottage was cozy, equipped with all the amenities you could need. It had AC, fans, hot water, a comfortable bed, a kitchenette and full bathroom. The place is easy to find and there is a nice beach within walking distance. The place is ideal for staying in the Hilo area or for day trips to Volcanoes National Park, or drive to the top of Mauna Kea (4WD required). "First stayed at this hotel over 20years ago. As was the case then location is still beautiful over looking Hilo bay and next to magnificent gardens. Dined in the cafe on Saturday and Sunday nights as the restaurant only offered a rather expensive buffet. Hotel is showing its age in some respects but is still a nice place to stay. "

"We were in town for the Merrie Monarch Hula Festival and The Grand Naniloa was a terrific hotel to stay in for the festival. Very convenient location in Hilo. Staff was friendly and the valet was super fast and they were working in overdrive for the festival. Lively hotel bar and nice markets. "We had a good stay at Magic Skies. The property seemed to have a nice atmosphere with the different spaces and room themes though there were some areas undergoing maintenance at the time of our stay. We didn’t end up having the breakfast service offered but it seemed reasonable. Though overall was an enjoyable stay with a good location."

"A very sweet, well-kept stately old property that exudes then charm of old Hilo. Check in was easy- note there are some fairly steep stairs leading up to the front door, as well as stairs within the house. I was very comfortable in my efficiency room, and especially appreciated the water, condensation, and diamond bakery cream crackers which were a much needed snack during my Merrie Monarch adventures! A great location and a comfortable place to stay for any Hilo vacation. "

"We stayed in the Kilauea condo, which is surrounded by tropical rain forest. Very romantic. Carlos prepared a nice breakfast for the two days that we stayed. We were blessed to be there one night when Kilauea erupted. The manager texted us and we were among the first people there. Amazing experience. The only negative is that the wifi is limited so download anything you want to watch before you come or enjoy the view and read a book"
