"This was a last minute book as I had a 12 hour wait at airport for my connecting flight. Thank goodness they allowed me to book at last minute as I did not want to wait 12 hours at restaurant. The room was clean, however, there is no TV in the bedroom, only in the common area. The area is in the basement of someone’s home, which I did not expect. There are two rooms in the basement with a shared bathroom. Thank goodness I was the only one there. While I definitely appreciate the short notice...

"The hosts are a friendly, experienced hostel business family. I enjoyed the breakfasts and the homey vibe. I'd like to leave two hopefully helpful pieces of advice for the visitors. If you're using a ride-hailing service, the car is not supposed to stop at the front of the house; it's better to use the spot on W 35th Ave or the back alley to get on / off. If your booked room is on the second floor and your luggage is heavy, be ready to lift it by yourself, as there is no elevator available."

"It would be great to have shared public areas for consumers to use. Since the owners are staying home daily, it’s not very comfortable to use the living room and kitchen. The towels are also quite smelly. It would be wonderful if the heater or air conditioning were working so that there’s fresh air circulating. "

"Spacious, well appointed, quiet room. My room was on the 5th floor, close to the lounge and restaurant which are also located on the 5th floor. For parking there are two choices: hotel valet parking @ $60 Cad per 24 hours, or open street level parking at $39 Cad per 24 hours. Very convenient location, many good locations within a few blocks."

"5-Star Service Every staff member at The Loden is welcoming, informative, and went out of their way to please. We stayed in a room with two beds that was spacious and bright, with comfortable beds, a beautiful bathroom with separate shower and a giant tub, and daily "treats" and lemon water for turndown service. "My husband and I were reviewing our stay when we left the hotel. The staff is just EXCELLENT. They are very very accommodating and enthusiastic and helpful. The decor is..well..needs help. The black dark hallways are abysmal..the rooms are decent but nothing..and I mean nothing flows. It is chopped up. The entrance is small for a hotel of this size. The check in desk is like a kiosk and it is placed in the worst possible spot. Would I stay here again? Only for the staff."

"Please be aware that the restaurant is too expensive! $28 for a small breakfast perperson, however a block away there is a Starbucks that services 2 people (coffees, egg sandwiches for $13). Is there a choice?"

Service is a big part of any hotel stay, and this is where things fell short, there was little effort to go above and beyond or even meet a basic level of attentiveness. Overall, underwhelming."
