Flt 4 Bank House Settle Yorkshire Dales

"On the whole we enjoyed our stay. The apartment is well located, mostly very clean, comfortable, pretty well appointed and a good size for two people. We had flat 4, which is at the top of the building and accessed from the rear. The stairwell is reasonably wide so carrying luggage up and down was not a problem for us - others could consider them steep and windy. There were a few negatives. Unfortunately, on arrival the communal staircase was blocked by e-bikes, which we had to remove to get in. It was also a fire escape risk being the only access point and so we contacted the host. They very promptly spoke with the other flat guests but some were not removed until much later that night! The flat smelt of stale cooking throughout our stay and there was some cleanliness issues in the bathroom. Info for guests should be refreshed every season as there were outdated travel and visitor guides and the parking has now increased in price since the marketing info was published. Overall though, it was a nice little flat."

"Breakfast is good. Plenty of choice. Sausages are very good. Poached eggs were spot on. Got enough beans. Bacon is ok. Not overly keen on giant field/Portobello mushroom. I prefer saute'd button mushrooms. DO NOT mess about with the bread toasters! They toast bang on if not fiddled with. Some of the younger serving staff need more training. They should know what the soup of the day is, people do ask. They need to know what is in the sauces with the meals and that if you order a steak, you need a steak knife and if you order soup, you need a soup spoon. They should check the water bottles and glasses for debris. The room and en suite were spotless, well laid out and comfortable. The reception staff are great, very helpful and know exactly what they are doing and what there is to do. The grounds all around the hotel are spectacular. The views from most rooms are uninterupted views across the lake and into the distant hills. There are some great walks locally. The shooting range is world class. The shooting lodge is really a nice log construction. Facilities and things to do at the hotel and around the area are great."

"We recently enjoyed a three-night stay at Green Grove Country House B&B and had a very pleasant experience. Our room was very comfortable, particularly the super king bed, which gave us three excellent nights’ sleep. The shower was fantastic, the toiletries were good quality, and having a small fridge in the room was a thoughtful and useful touch. The homemade buns were delicious too. The views from the property are beautiful, especially at sunset. We enjoyed being able to sit outside in the evenings, which is a lovely bonus in a B&B. Although the outdoor seating area was shared with other guests and therefore not quite as private as we had anticipated, we still very much enjoyed spending time outside and taking in the wonderful views. It was particularly enjoyable watching the woodpeckers feeding nearby. Breakfast was outstanding. There was a great choice of options and everything we tried was delicious, from the fresh fruit to the full cooked breakfast. The portions were generous and we ate so well each morning that we didn’t feel the need for lunch on any of the days we stayed. The hosts were friendly and welcoming throughout our stay, creating a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. We appreciated their warm hospitality and the effort they made to ensure we had everything we needed. The location is excellent and makes a great base for exploring the Yorkshire Dales and surrounding area. We would happily recommend it and would consider staying again if we were visiting the area"

"Helpful and flexible with uncertainty over bookings, and the accommodation was at least satisfactory in general... but there was drastically inadequate parking for a full hostel, and we were not given all the necessary info about how to gain access to the buildings ! ( a helpful resident who happened to be up late saved us from standing outside in the cold and dark. Make sure the person on the desk not only gives over the FULL keypad entry number...but also HOW to access the key pad in order to actually press the numbers and symbols in! :-l"
