"The tub would not drain. The first shower i discovered it and bathed in others gunk coming up. Then i had to Plug drain to take next shower. I was given the wrong directions to get to my room and had heavy stuff. I had to re park car as well. No refrig or microwave. What kind of place does not provide this? "

"The fireplace and ice machine didn’t work. Office opens at 8am, checked out at 8:10 am there was no one at the front desk another customer was there and had been hitting the bell a few times with no response she finally knocked on the door behind the desk a few minutes later a person came out looked like he just got out of bed. Room was clean, good hot water."

"Overall good experience other than we had no large bath towels but did not realize til morning. Went to front desk at 7:00am but but closed, same at 7:45am. Needed to be on the road by 8:00."

"Lone Oak Lodge is convenient & very close by to many places I wanted to see —- Monterey, Carmel, Carmel Valley, Pebble Beach, 17 Mile Drive, Pacific Grove, Carmel Mission Basilica Church. Only 5 to 15 minutes drive. Stayed here a couple of nights. Reasonable price for huge, clean room & accommodating staff, including the housekeeping. The smell of the room though is too clean! Ingredients of cleaning supplies might be a bit much for people with smell sensitivity. Thank you!"

"I had a very lovely stay! The location is great…very close to everything you could possibly need. The room was spotless and had lots of amenities…fridge and microwave were perfect! The bed was super comfy too! They have laundry on site and you can also refill water legacy was very helpful! Everyone I encountered was very friendly and helpful. I look forward to returning to this property and highly recommend!"

"Yes you check in at the gas station! That’s ok, gas station is also a good minimart. There is no after hours clerk and gas station attendant didn’t understand that he had our keys. Room was ok, property is quite dated, but is kept up well. Gas is cheapest at their station!"

"Pretty rustic, but that’s what we were expecting. Beautiful grounds and close to the beaches and the 17 mile drive. We would totally come back again."

"Check in was easy and the staff friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. Son enjoyed the pool which was nice after long days at Laguna Seca. Close enough to fast food restaurants and grocery stores including some fantastic donuts at Monterey Donuts. Also being an easy drive to and from Laguna was great. If we are able to make the trip again next year we will strongly consider using El Castell again"

"Maybe the staff were having a bad day or two, but we experienced blatant rudeness from checking to breakfast. The breakfast (if you can call it that) experience was the worst. After calling them out on a few things, we did receive what I hope was a genuine apology so I guess that’s something. FYI - sofa bed is a futon. My kids ended up sleeping on the floor as it was more comfortable. The ‘white’ towels are a nice shade of brown. A real shame as this property has potential."

"Amazing hotel!!! The staff were so friendly and accomodating. The only thing is that there is no A/C since the property is older so keep that in mind BUT they do have fans to give you if needed. But they were amazing, bed was comfy and great views"

"The location is the best as it's near to ocean and pretty much everything is nearby within a 10 min drive that you could need. Front desk staff is amazingly helpful. The rooms are nicely decorated. Bed is super comfortable. All of the room are pet friendly. "

"The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was very clean. However, the street noise made it very hard to get a good nights rest."
