"Beautiful B&B on a hill, but walkable to the bay and wharf and many dining options. The Bay Area is a little tacky with pin ball, casinos bars etc, but we had a very nice dinner at a spot called “Local” and it was walking distance to our lodging."

"The room was comfortable and very clean. Earlier reviews mentioned toiletries but there was only a small bottle of shampoo/conditioner. The hotel website showed bathrobes in a room the same as ours but there were none. Our room overlooked the terrace and it was disappointing that smoking was allowed there as the smell came in our open window. Also the toilet seat was loose, it was reported but not fixed. "

"Booked 3 nights B&B in a premium seaview room, decent size room in good decorative order and vry clean with a nice large bed. Also had a coffee machine and fridge. Breakfast was a little chaotic, its a very busy hotel and there were a decent amount of staff but it just seemed like they were running around achieving little with food items constantly running out. "Chaz and Kelly, the owners could not have been more helpful. Although they did not do a breakfast or have a dining room, they made up a wonderful breakfast hamper, delivered to your room at your convenience, which including a bacon or sausage bap, amongst many other items. The room was quite smalll but beautifully and tastfully decorated with a lovely view of the grassed garden which also served as a car park. Thank you and I certainly hope to return,"

"The best way to describe the Great Western is with the two words, quaint and quirky! The house is in the middle of a massive re-vamp, but that did not impinge on my stay, which was short, but long enough to form a very positive opinion. "I found the hotel perfect for a short stay in Torquay. Only a 10 minute walk to the seafront and free parking just outside the entrance. I had a lovely cooked breakfast every morning with some extra treats. Really friendly place and I'm going back there in the summer. I'm using the hotel as a base to meet my friends who return to Torquay twice a year."
