As I was walking through a mountain meadow, I was humbled by the serenity of the silence in the brisk morning air. I came across the remnant of an old fence post being the only sign of what the meadow was used for in years past. It reminded me of the strength of the people that lived there before. I love the combination of desert and snow covered mountains on the PCT.
Once upon a time, there was an active volcano with lava flowing out of it in the middle of the Mohave Desert of California. If I didn't know any better it looks like it's about 100 years old. But after some research on my part, I learned that scientists put it at more like 8-10,000 years old.
