We were given smelt damp and had to be moved to a better room but still then extremely basic and cleaning standard not great. Not helped also by the fact they only offer housekeeping every 3 days.

"For the grandeur of the hotel, the breakfast was not the best for the money self service with tinned mushrooms and the sausages not the best, plus not very hot. And another thing is they charge for parking, a hotel situated away from any means of getting there other than by car with plenty of land you should not be charged to park at £13.50 a day when simular hotels at the same rates do not charge. "We had a great one night stay at Berwick Lodge on a a Monday to celebrate a birthday. The sun shone and the Housemartins flew happily around whilst we sat on the terrace having a cocktail.
The à la carte menu was fantastic - well worth the cost and breakfast was very tasty.
