"Friendly welcoming staff, varied menu and excellent food and atmosphere in the bar area. Good choice of breakfast and plenty of it. Clean and quiet room with a comfortable bed and small but adequate en-suite. We would stay again and would happily recommend it to others."

"Nice big room and bathroom, the only downside was staying there during a hot spell and the bathroom got the sum very early morning and the bedroom for the rest of the day making it unbearable to sleep in, even though there was a fan provided. The bottom sheet didnt fit the bed properly so with shuffling due to the heat it didnt stay on for long. Great location and a good base for visiting the area and plenty of parking. We had breakfast but wished we hadnt as it was very disappointing when...

"Our room was in the Old Swan,it is a property that the Old Lodge must own. It's a few minutes walk from the lodge.It was ok but wouldn't stay again. Breakfast was lovely,fresh fruit, croissants, everything cooked to order. The only niggle was that we went for a drink in the lounge about 9 o clock,and it was just staff stood there ,one was swearing,which I don't think was acceptable in a posh establishment and while guests were present . Check in staff were lovely,but we won't be staying again."

"I stayed for 4 nights at the Holiday Inn in York. I was warmly greeted by the receptionist and was checked in quickly. As I don't use lifts, the receptionist arranged for my suitcase to be taken up to my room. My room, on the 2nd floor, was big and looked very clean. There was a double bed, 2 seater sofa, TV, plenty of hanging space but only 5 hangers, and tea/coffee making facilities.
