Food awful. Bed was comfortable, room was clean but dark, shabby and rather depressing. Best bit - escaping into early morning sunshine."

"Looks grand from the outside and reception, with beautiful grounds. It’s dated. Very dated! We booked the cheapest room so walked a few miles in corridors getting lost in lifts that only go to certain rooms and then a stairwell that was really smelly. We had drinks in the bar, asked for coke was given Pepsi without being asked if I was ok with that and then the £4 small bowl of fries was literally cold. No need to return. "

"I was a walker arriving at the Nag's Head at 15.30. I was warmly received and shown to my very comfortable room. Although the restaurant was closed on a Tuesday evening, i was provided with a wonderful Chinese meal at a very modest cost. I requested a continental breakfast which was fine. Pick Hill is a lovely small village with a long history, some of which is displayed in the ancient church. "

"The room was clean and the staff friendly. I probably would not come here again mainly because they do not serve breakfast. Their website states that breakfast is made to order and I recall seeing it on the expedia page but then was notified a day before about where to go for food instead. I asked on arrival and they have not served breakfast in 3 years. Inconvenient but not the end of the world. The shower had someone else's soap in it and the body wash was never renewed after use. "Basic full English with some cereal , yogurt and pastries with bread and rolls. As much tea and coffee as you can drink with some fruit like apples and oranges. The menu for later looked interesting but never got round to ordering because of the very excellent restaurant next door “mylahore”. Staff brilliant and parking somewhat pricey but fitting with local parking and easy to purchase in foyer. Rooms cleaned everyday unless you request not. With items very well looked after. Very happy...

"An enjoyable one night stay at a hotel where the positive features far outweigh any minor niggles. Attentive and pleasant staff, excellent food, well presented and served in a timely manner. Rooms just bordering on the need for some love and attention, although White Stuff toiletries do a good job in diverting attention from the nasty stain on one of the seats. Decent enough spa facilities, although it would be helpful if the price to swim were included in the booking price."
