"Location was convenient."

"I don’t recommend this property. You have to walk 20 minutes to the hotel from the main lobby or take a tram. The tram is up to a 15 minute wait with several stops. If you have an excursion to get too, this could delay your arrival. The rooms are split between owner occupied or hotel. The hotel side is old decor with popcorn ceilings. Not pictured on their website. The owner occupied rooms are a little nice but we had to be moved three times due to faulty air conditioning. Staff was NOT helpful...

"This property has three buildings you can stay in. We stayed in the Makai which I highly recommend. It is the building closest to their on-property luau: Legends of Hawai’i, has a great pool with a fun slide, is where the dolphin cove and lagoon are, there is a poolside bar, a grille restaurant by the lagoon, Kona coffee shop, Big Island Market for souvenirs or sunscreen, fitness center, spa, and is near the parking lot. "Our 1st evening, we had some problems with getting food. The poolside restaurant had to close early and the bar restaurant ran out of pizza. I’m sure it was an unusual problem, but we didn’t have dinner that night coming in from a long travel day from Texas. All other meals were great, especially breakfast buffet which was outstanding."

"The Fairmont is likely as good of a “Resort” property as one could find. I am not a fan of Resorts, But when in Hawaii it is difficult to not stay in one. Fairmont is well presented, certainly not a value proposition, but nicely done. Good food, Bars, Pool, etc. shower in the bathtub was far better than the separate shower. Facility does need some paint and refreshing. Grounds and Location are beautiful. I like Fairmont Hotels and they are a brand I seek out, when traveling."
