"Don't drive, arrive by train and everything can be walked from here. Vibrant city centre location so can be noisy at night. Room standards vary from the amazing to the basic so worth paying more. 4* as we got a basic room night 1 but then they moved us to amazing room! Food and staff were really 5*."

"This is what you hope for when you stay at a pub - history, beautiful location, walking distance to everything, comfortable bed, all the usual mod cons and a delicious breakfast. Of course, for anyone not familiar with staying in a pub, I want to highlight that it closes at 11pm. You will absolutely hear the noise from the pub before then, but the staff close up very efficiently and you can almost guarantee quiet from 11:10pm (which is rather rare and impressive!) "The hotel was in a great part of Edinburgh making it easy to walk places. We loved how the building fit in with old Edinburgh. The breakfast was delicious. Being able to store our luggage between checkout and when we caught the train gave us an extra half day in town. We definitely recommend to anyone planning a stay in beautiful Edinburgh, Scotland. "

"Not our first stay here - a returning visit, as the previous one was so good - luckily, we got the same room as before; beautifully decorated, extremely quiet and comfortable, the bathroom quite superb, and already looking for an excuse to go again. The food in the bar/restaurant is quite, quite delicious, and the staff have obviously been very well briefed on how to deal with customers. We cannot fault this property at all - wonderful."
