The building could do with a refurb. However our room although tired was clean. There was no lift to use but the staff were more than happy to carry our bags upstairs. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Restaurant food was good.

The hotel was very clean the staff were very helpful and friendly the food was very nice we ate in the bar area it was very relaxed. If I had one negative it was thst the bed was a little hard it could have done with a mattress topper.

very good location for bristol and surrounds. good for work stopover.nice restaurant for evening meeting.
The hotel was clean and tidy the rooms were very nice. The food in the marco Pierre restaurant was really nice the staff were very helpful with lovely food ar a reasonable price. The food at breakfast is good quality and very tasty. If your looking for a hotel in the area this would be a great choice.I would definitely stay there again.
Ideally located to transport routes, service from staff was excellent, just looking a bit tired. However, was perfect for what I needed and would stay here again.

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Staff were pleasant and helpful, breakfast was better than expected and the bar area is quite nice. Comfortable enough bed but the bathroom was very dated & the shower-head would not stay in place. A septic tank issue during heavy rain caused a slight smell, but only in the conference area. Overall, its adequate for a 1 night stop-over.
Loved the ambience of the property. Spent a very relaxing, peaceful afternoon in the bar area, sitting in the sun with a lovely coffee. Staff were friendly and helpful. Loved this hotel and would stay again. Two recommendations for the hotel to think about...1. If a wedding reception is booked, perhaps think about putting tired travellers in a room away from the loud music. (Best wishes to the bride and groom). 2. Upgrade the mattress on the foldaway bed. For an extra 25 pounds, the bed was not really comfortable for a young adult. Thanks to the staff for helping with my requests. Cheers.

Plenty of parking and easy to find, just off the motorway. Got a good rate for the night and bed v comfortable. Room of reasonable quality although ensuite could do with some refurbishment. Power shower 10/10. My main criticism is that it is a tad noisy, both from the road outside and from creaky floorboards in hallways. Pleasant bar area. Cannot comment in food as did not dine. Perfectly gone for a one night stay.
Hotel was in a good position - easy to find. The receptionist was extremely helpful, and check in and out simple. The room was a good size, with comfortable beds. There is no housekeeping but you could request additional tea/coffee etc if needed. Lots of car parking spaces.

The hotel is definitely in need of a refurbishment. The rooms are extremely dated and feel very old, however our room at least felt clean. The restaurant areas are not bad, but reception and hallways also need an update.
The lack of air conditioning made the room feel very warm and stale.
Very impressed with the friendly caring staff. The room was a little dark with just two bed sides lamps. But overall we were very pleased and we will stay again
Friendly staff. Room was spotless and toasty warm as freezing outside. Bed was so comfortable hard to get out.
Food and service in restaurant brilliant.
We went to Bath for weekend and it was worth the 30 min drive to stay here for a third of the price of similar Bath hotels.

Third stay
This was our third stay at The Gables, we had a four poster bedroom this time, which was lovely. In the bathroom there was a spa bath, unfortunately the spa part wasn't working.
The hotel and staff were both excellent. The evening, however, was somewhat spoilt with the service and quality of the food - Medium steak was ordered and was unfortunately well done, and sides which were ordered arrived 10 mins after the mains were peesented - Not impressed
Where to start. Hotel is dated and needs deep cleaning to start. I doubt Marco has ever set foot in the restaurant, only half of the menu available and what i ordered, half of that had been microwaved from frozen. Staff were good but disappeared for long spells. Had the cheek to add a charge for a tip for themselves ,because after our meal there was no one to speak to, therefore charged to the room.
In general the staff were helpful but id say the owners need to take a hard look at what they offer and Marco Pierre Whits needs to pay a visit and see what they are serving up. Will not be going again and will not be recommending this establishment to anyone. Book the Devere up the road for £20 extra and have a lovely stay with better rooms and food.
