"Location excellent for attractions. Reception was nice and a bit quirky. Room was a bit bland although recently refurbished. Breakfast was adequate. Air conditioning in the room would have been nice, a fan was provided. If the temperature had been any warmer it could have been a problem. We managed to get free parking at the front of the hotel which was a bonus, spaces were limited."

"A lovely little hotel a couple of minutes walk away from the beach and 10 minutes walk from the theatre and restaurants. Staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and comfortable … quite a small bathroom but fine for a night’s stay. It was quite warm in the room and we couldn’t open one of the windows as the latch was broken. "The member of staff couldn’t find our booking and made us feel like we hadn’t booked it until I showed them the confirmation, but no apologies and said they were having IT issues, they then said the air conditioning hasn’t been working since May, but nothing mentioned on there web site, so it was a very uncomfortable stay and TBH I wouldn’t have booked that hotel as we are in a middle of a heat wave and staff were not helpful!!!! I have complained but not heard from them yet"

"So extreme heat was the bug bear They were unable to cope air conditioning was not working making the stay unbearable Staff tho really could not be more honest Its not the fault of them at all Room was basic Lots of silly things a miss ,but clean and staff great A new lad was on the bar bless him in all the heat he pulled the best pint and topped it up so pleasant . Breakfast was nice ..however staff there on the tables were miserable :("

"This is easily the best hotel in Portsmouth- best location, easy included parking out front on. there own grounds. Large, traditional old hotel, but well kept. 24 hour bar for residents. Upmarket restaurant. One major drawback - no aircon in the bedrooms or the hallways stairs etc.: a big problem if you are there during a heat wave -36! - as I was. I would still book again though, but only in cooler weather."

"Really enjoyed our stay here. The room was clean, modern and comfortable, and the breakfast each morning was very good with plenty of choice. The staff were all friendly and helpful throughout our stay, and the free parking permit was a really useful bonus. The hotel overall felt well looked after and in a great condition. "A clean and comfortable room which had all we needed. Parking was in a nearby multilevel carpark, a 5 min walk away. Staff were very helpful and friendly at all times."

"Property is in a very good position over looking the Solent and walkable to Southsea or Portsmouth. Had everything we needed and particularly enjoyed the roof garden"

"The room was clean, and a great location in Southsea. A few small issues: the TV stopped working on our last morning, the bath had not been used and the water ran yellow, but the shower was fine. A cloth to do the washing up would have been of use. Overall the room was a great base for our weekend away."
