"This hotel was horrible! Every towel, face cloth, hand towel and bed sheet was stained. Black mold in the bathroom. The room smelled like it was recently smoked in with burn marks on all the tables. The carpets, all stained. The smoke alarm was wrapped in plastic. We had to ask for extra sheets to change the bed before we even slept in it. Front desk was no help. Do not stay here. By far, the worse hotel we have ever stayed at. Not to mention the illegal “activities” going on in the other...

"The room we were given after stating that there were allergies involved had a stale musty mildew smell to it. We opened the window and turned on the air to get things aired out. By midnight we were having breathing issues. The assistant manager stated the air conditioner needed to be cleaned and offered a refund. We left to find another hotel and now they are not providing any refund."

"There’s a lot to like about the Sand Castle Inn. The staff at both check-in and check-out were friendly and helpful, and the location is ideal—close to Monterey but far enough away to avoid the crowds and tourist congestion. The room looked exactly as pictured and was spotlessly clean, with a very comfortable bed and quality linens. I especially appreciated the small details: a quiet mini fridge (rare!), no overpowering carpet or chemical odors, strong A/C, and reliably hot water. Traveling...

"Well! The beach was just down the road! That was a plus. The room was very small. There was not towels, wash clothes, shower mat. Extra toilet paper. We request second day we was there our door sounded like we trying to tear it off the hinges. It was very loud whenever we closed the door. We loved the black out shades they were very effective."
