"A lovely traditional pub within striking distance of many beautiful places. The food was always great particularly the breakfast and came out wonderfully hot and on hot place which is so often an issue in other hotels. It's lovely to sit out in the garden and we were staying while the World Cup and Wimbledon were on and it was easy to catch the games in the evening but also lots of space to get away from the action. "Do no stay at this hotel, it is terrible. It was totally run down. The curtains were ripped and hadn't been washed in years. The bathroom was filthy with brown stains in toilet and black grime on shower seals. The sink had hard toothpaste left on it obviously from the guests before us. The room itself was thick with dust and the carpet was covered in stains and hadn't been hoovered in weeks.Even the walls had dirty marks all over them We had booked 2 rooms and both were as bad as each other. "Superb staff, all staff went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. Food was exquisite too every meal was fab in the Orangery and the bar. Beautiful hotel, just a short walk from Pantiles or you can catch the bus downhill. My only criticism was the taxi service provided by the hotel, they charged us 8 pounds to take us down the road to Pantiles which was overpriced. We didn't use that taxi service again."
