The Knickerbocker would be a fine hotel if it was $200 cheaper. The room is nice and clean, but nothing special beyond a normal hotel room. You pay over $400 for your basic room. Then, when you get there you find that they charge you $45 extra to use the amenities. Then, after breakfast you find out that they charged you $62 for breakfast. When I stay in a 400 hotel I expect to get something for my money. Not to pay all of that money for nothing more than I could get in a cheap motel, and then have to pay through the teeth above that for any of the nice stuff the hotel offers. The Knickerbocker is a terrible example of overpriced New York and of inappropriate junk fees.

Our second stay, and again an exceptional experience, Charlie Palmer restaurant again was excellent, for dinner and breakfast, the staff was very attentive, steaks cooked perfectly, even a well done filet was perfect. The restaurant is a large part of the criteria I use for my hotel selection, location also, The Knickerbocker has been excellent the entire stay each visit.

Location was great- near by time square and all other things to do in NY - walking distance to Central Park Hotel is basic - clean but service is not a 5* Elevator super super slow, you have to wait for ever to get up or down Many workers/stuff standing out there and doing nothing to help with luggages or open the doors for guests or guidance .. too many and less work Room is basic - clean ok but can’t say a 5* hotel by no mean. Also too expensive for what you get.

This is my third time staying at this hotel to attend Broadway plays. I cannot say enough good things about this hotel for play watchers. Location, location, location. I previously traveled as a couple but my partner died. Three years later, traveling as a single 65 year old women I was very well taken care of throughout my stay. Having VIP access, I was provided an upgrade upon checkin and two free drink coupons for the roof top bar. I checked in at 4 pm, had two drinks at the lovely roof top bar and easily walked 10 minutes by myself to the play and to nearby Chez Josephine for dinner afterwards. Though by myself, I never felt alone. Service was outstanding
