"This is a charming hotel with a popular restaurant and bar. It seemed very busy during our stay and I believe the hotel was fully booked that night. The staff on arrival were welcoming and friendly, and they kindly explained how to access the building after 11:30pm, which was very helpful. The restaurant also appeared popular with both guests and visitors, creating a lively atmosphere. As expected with such an old building in the centre of town, there is no on-site parking. However, there are several nearby public car parks within easy walking distance, so this wasn’t too inconvenient. Our room was immaculate and very comfortable. The large shower was excellent, with plenty of hot water, and it was nice to have good coffee, a kettle, and biscuits provided in the room. Breakfast was included in the stay, although this was the one area that let the experience down slightly. The croissants seemed a little stale and dry, and with no hot breakfast options available, it felt somewhat limited. The breakfast staff were also less engaging than the rest of the team, despite wishing them good morning, only one person responded, and unfortunately it came across rather sarcastically. One final point, which is obviously not the hotel’s fault, was that the guest in the neighbouring room snored extremely loudly throughout the night, which disturbed our sleep several times. Overall, though, this is a clean, welcoming, and well-located hotel with friendly reception staff and comfortable"

"The room was clean and the bed comfortable. However, we really didn't like the Pub and Grill - small, crowded and very noisy - the football being shown on every vertical surface was embellished with loud and annoying music. We decided to eat in our room - which had its own contribution to add. The only way to order was via an app - which didn't work. As there are no phones in the rooms ( and no phone number provided to reach reception), I had to stand in the hallway to use one of the few phones around and order food whilst fellow guests walked past. It's a good thing I'm not self conscious! The food itself was ok, though being lactose intolerant seriously restricted my choices ( good thing I'm not a vegan!). Otherwise, the staff were very nice and I have no complaints on that front. Can't comment on the pool facilities as we didn't use them (despite paying for them) but that was entirely our fault."

"Bed frame was very squeaky when sit on it. Front desk told me that its the same in the other remaining room which was true to my surprise. Room was muggy warm, needed to use a fan to cool down; window locked closed. Bathroom was missing a set of towels for 2nd person. Front desk was friendly trying to help. Buffet Breakfast was good though."

"Let’s start with the positives. The gym was great, my chicken curry delicious and I slept really well. Sadly that’s where it ends. The first question I was asked on check in was “Have you got any ID?” In a really brash manner, which, being honest annoyed me. I was then told what time everything closed… it was very negative. My room was ok but basic and there were shoddy bits, like the door frame had been fixed but not painted. After I had dinner (I was the only person in the bar/restaurant and the waiter was desperate for me to leave him a review) I went back to my room to chill. When I switched the tv on it worked for five minutes and then switched off. No worries I thought, I’ll watch on my laptop. When I tried to watch BBC/DAZN/Sky they all wouldn’t work saying there was a VPN issue. So, I called reception and the bloke argued with me saying it was my laptop. It definitely wasn’t. Said he’d send someone to look at my tv, didn’t get a call for an hour by which time I was ready for bed. There’s something dodgy there. I’m sure this hotel has a purpose but for me it wasn’t that great."

"An absolutely amazing hotel with great staff.. made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much effort. The food was incredible, very fresh and great menu. The rooms are absolutely amazing there really have thought of everything including beautiful decor. Will DEFINITELY be returning very soon.. A huge thank you 🙏 "
