"It would have been a good stay except for one thing...the bed mattress was terrible and I spent the night tossing and turning and only managed 3 hours sleep and I was speaking at a funeral the next day so it wasnt good. Eveything else was great so if they could just provide mattresses where the springs dont bite into your back, shoulders and thighs it would be a great place to stay"

"We booked this hotel and saw some of the reviews and were really anxious about what it was going to be like BUT and a big BUT we could not fault the stay whatsoever. Spa area was impressive with lots to offer well kept and clean. We had breakfast and the food was spot on. Staff were all super friendly and polite. The mini fridge was broken but still fully stocked with a vast array of drinks. Honestly you will not be disappointed if you go. I read the pool was could etc and for us it was...

"Great place to stay with a warm welcome. Rob and Jan are very friendly hosts, made us feel at home. A short walk into Todmorden and had a lovely day. Had a great sleep in a very comfy bed. All topped off by a lovely breakfast the morning after. Couldn't have asked for more. Hope to be back in the future. Thanks Toothless Mog for a lovely stay! 👍👍👍 "

"The Grains bar hotel was selected over others primarily for its location which had several teenage memories. We were visiting family in Smallbridge, Rochdale ... 4miles away, so very convenient. Excellent greeting and first impressions. Ample seating areas, small bar area next to reception, large brekki, dining room but lacked atmosphere. Other rooms (not viewed incl Wedding venue) available. Good meals and menu. Rag pudding...well! Yes, the parking is a tad awkward, ie circa 20 spaces...

"Car park is being re-done got woken up by diggers in the morning. Not necessarily hotel’s fault but noisy guests slamming doors until midnight & talking outside my room was quite annoying & meant I could not sleep until gone midnight. "

"Great that there was free parking, staff were probably the friendliest I’ve ever seen. Rooms over the bar a bit noisy with music, doors banging ect but it does close at 12 so had a good nights sleep. Disappointed breakfast wasn’t provided but there was tea/coffee/ biscuits in the room."

"We stayed at this beautiful cottage last weekend and honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The owners were incredibly helpful, especially when we let them know we wouldn’t be arriving until midnight — they couldn’t have been more accommodating. "Lovely room. The shower cubicle was a bit small, but the shower was good, although no heating in the shower room. The room was accessed via two flights of narrow stairs. Breakfast was reasonable, but could do with yogurt and fresh fruit with the cereals. No offer of separate toast..one piece provided with the breakfast. No jams or marmalade on offer either. The main meals and menu gor dinnrr was excelent"
