Staff were friendly and polite, and the hotel is in a quiet neighborhood with some great dining options close by. Overall fine for a short stay, but could use a bit of freshening up."

"For what it was, the stay was perfect. Friendliest staff I have ever encountered in a hotel. Room was spotless clean, had a very nice firm bed and more provided pillows than most hotels, the hotel had plenty of amazing restaurants in close proximity, a Konbini on the ground floor With a smoking area, and is a short walk from the nearest train station. "Our goal for our trip to Japan was to hike Mount Fuji, but one of the unexpected highlights was our stay at the Kappo Ryokan Uoichi! Post-hike, we moved from Tokyo to Osaka with a stop at the Ryokan in Shimada. Two families (eight of us) stayed at Kappo Ryokan Uoichi and had a wonderful time. The building is a 150-year-old restaurant, and the stay included a shared bedroom with eight futon beds, an adjacent family room, a private bathroom, and a shared onsen.
