"At first a rather unassuming place along a very busy A1 main road, by a petrol station. Yet, once installed after a swift checkin with a very friendly member of staff, the view on the Northumberland countryside from the bedroom is nice and soothing, and the noise of traffic is absent. There are two options for a dinner, a café and a restaurant. The restaurant is the best for value. Quite a find. And did I mention the nice and helpful staff?"

"Very good small hotel. We enjoyed a lovely pub meal and friendly service when we stayed. Breakfast was a bit disappointing with the full range of buffet items unavailable eg cheese and cold meats.The waitress was clearly not familiar with the menu. Room was small but very suitable for the night. Parking was good and it was very dog friendly with a separate dog menu. I would recommend it and would not hesitate to return."

"We enjoyed our stay at Newcastle Arms hotel plenty parking space, nice room compact but adequate ,very clean , plenty of tea and coffee amenities.breakfast was excellent so much choice and the black pudding was second to none, the staff were so friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a reasonably priced break."

"Room wasn't cleaned at all, all sorts of used items under the bed that did not belong to us, broken tiles on bathroom floor didn't allow to walk on it barefoot, shower was from hot to extremely hot, cobwebs all over the place. Awful state of the property, ell of damp everywhere, we had to leave after first night, it was unbearable to stay any longer"

"My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the Marshall Meadows Manor House. We stayed one night, but ate dinner and the included breakfast at the hotel. The room was clean, the food excellent, and the staff genuinely helpful. The manager assisted with luggage, provided us with helpful advice for our destination the following day, and was very attentive while also serving at the restaurant. We walked the cliff top trail from the property and enjoyed the amazing views of the Berwickshire coastline, as...

"The meals were excellent both for quality and price, staff very helpful. The bed was comfortable however the windows did not close entirely. It was quite warm so not a major problem for us but the windows needed refurbishment so they be opened or closed easily. The electric shower was very weak. These issues were relatively minor given the pluses of staff, food and comfortable beds"

"I confess that I was a bit disappointed when I first arrived - but the room was big and well appointed with an updated bathroom, and changed my tune., it’s walking distance to everything in town. It wasn’t hot inside during the heat wave, hurrah! The building itself is a bit shabby but the room was great. Very noisy at night so bring earplugs. "Travelled with 2 puppies was worried about how things would be. Didn’t need to be worried as dog friendly rooms available & staff very accommodating. Meals served all day & a good variety to choose from. Have booked for close family to stay later in the year."
