"Standard of Hotel is high and loved communal Lounge and kitchen but did miss having personal contact as no reception. Had booked a Standard double with a Court yard view to find there was no such view as window had opaque glass also very disappointed to find window sealed so unable to have any fresh air into room so no natural ventilation .A fan is provided but not the same. Would stay again but only if a room with natural ventilation was available. I do believe this should be made clear in...

"Disappointing one night stop over. Its more of a business traveller, conference & private events venue than a country house hotel. Suite 15 is directly opposite the kitchen extractor fan which is on from before 5.00am until the kitchen closes at night & can easily be heard in the room. The room only had one bedside table & lamp, the glazed entrance is fitted with opaque glass & is the only window so there is no view. If you could see out you would be looking at the car park. "Set in a wonderful location, Owsten Hall is a 300 year old manor house tastefully modernised but keeping some history. The rooms were large by modern standards and recently refurbished, the cooked breakfast was lovely."

"Only one criticism I have is about the parking .There are only 2 parking spaces at the B&B this only came to my attention when I had booked and received the welcome email/text .i was lucky while I was staying I managed to get one for the 3 days .Other than its a great place to stay very clean and well maintained ."

"Absolutely beautiful house and weathering pretty well considering age and National Trust status. Quirky and very comfortable but not contemporary so don’t expect gleaming and modern. That’s the absolute beauty of this place and we loved it. The staff were fabulous and service was outstanding. House and grounds superb. Special birthday treat and will recommend until the cows come home! Well situated for York and a wonderful way to embrace history with this wonderful house. Fabulous!"
