"Comfy room, generous towels. Arrived late Friday evening, no bother getting a table in the pub downstairs for food- they don't take table reservations, so I wasn't at a disadvantage. Good wide choice on the menu and attentive service. There was a nightwatchman for after hours- what a treasure! He showed me how to access once the pub was closed, helped me empty the bags from the car and carried them to our room all with a friendly, nothing was too much trouble approach. "Not clean Pet hotel Not suitable for anyone with animal allergies When we arrived at the hotel at 11:30pm we then found out that the room was a room used for owners with pets We were not offered a room pet free. As it was so late and been driving for over 6hrs we looked at the room - but the room had a really strong cleaning product smell - probably trying to mask the animal smells, and looking closely on the floor you could see animal hair. "Very nice lady on reception. Paid for breakfast which was not as ordered. We gave exact instruction as items to be very well cooked, this was not the case and did not have time to return it! The water in the shower was freezing. Plus the extractor very noisy. Parking was great and bus service very close. Enjoyed drinks in the bar, such a pity the other major things were not up to scrach. "Nice spacious and very clean room. Well facilitated with a tea tray and bottles of water. Room was immensely hot but thankfully able to open all the windows. Liked fresh cooked breakfast (as opposed to usual buffets) however I would love to see a better drinkable coffee being served and a little gripe - after requesting hard poached egg with no ‘snot’ my egg was totally snotty when I cut it and ran into my breakfast so didn’t eat much. "I did request a set of clean towels which I never got ??? My view from my room 129 of the air conditioning vents is not what I really expected. other than that all was good."

"Staff excellent. Setting beautiful. We stayed in the old house which had real charm, but was a little tired. Beyond the historic house is a conference centre, with spa. We ate an evening meal in the 1744 restaurant which was well priced and very tasty. "

"We just had a standard double room, I was suprised how nice it was for the price. The hotel itself is lovely, such a beautiful place. There are a few animals outside to feed, an outdoor bar area. The bar inside is great and reasonably priced. The food is AMAXING "
