We dropped bags at the hotel after a long day of travel and were allowed to clean up a bit as well. After checking in later that evening, we noted that the temperature control in the room was not working. As it was hot, we didn't want to be uncomfortable for the night, so we asked to be transferred to another room. They promptly gave us a room of the same type, this on the 3rd level. It was shabbier and actually seemed a bit dirty and smaller; we did comment on this to staff. But, this was our first trip to London and we didn't know if this was common in older hotels.
The staff was excellent and very accommodating, the location amazing and easy to walk to parks, shopping, galleries and museums. We trekked all over greater London and had a wonderful experience. On our last night we enjoyed a drink in a living room on the main level. We'd hoped for a proper English breakfast on leaving, however the service on Sunday started later than posted. It was easy to get to London Euston from there, a short Uber drive, as we were headed to the Lake District.
Overall we enjoyed the stay but were disappointed in the condition of our room given the cost of lodging. there.
