"I was able to check in online before I arrived at The Kicking Dickey. The staff were very helpful and friendly along with the pub which I thought was very welcoming. My room was at the rear of the property so away from any noise. The room itself was comfortable and well maintained, I think it might of been a converted stable. Nice functional bathroom with a shower and a very comfortable single bed. Lots of free parking outside the property. All in all well worth a stay."

"The location to the airport was amazing. We arrived by train and walked to the hotel. In the morning we had a nice breakfast and walked back to the airport to catch our flight. Seamless! Bonus that the property was beautifully maintained."

"The only negative was that it took a while to check in( a slow process) room was very clean and a comfy bed. Evening meal was good and plenty of it. Brilliant grab and go breakfast at 4a.m everything that you could want."

"Our stay at the ship inn was lovely. The room was spacious and modern, the bed was really comfortable, the bathroom and walk in shower were delightful. We didn’t have the breakfast as we had other plans with friends. This is a help yourself continental style breakfast, which looked quite basic but perfectly adequate. "Perfect place to stay overnight before a flight from Stansted. Lots of choice for your help yourself breakfast. Wasn’t made aware that you could leave your car there and take a taxi to the airport. Would have definitely saved some money. Maybe this could be highlighted more."

"This is a 17th century coaching inn, which makes it a wonderful place to stay. The staff, especially the reception, were excellent and the room was clean. Yes, it's above a pub so it's not going to be super quiet until after it closes, but there was more noise from adjacent rooms than the pub. An evening meal was very good (meat pies top notch) and continental breakfast was good. For non-UK guests, yes, the room is going to be small, and for North American guests it is also going to be cold...

"The hotel was absolutely perfect for me and I cannot fault it! Great location with added bonus of Toby Carvery close by and M and S garage shop so you can’t ask for more 😁 The accommodation was clean and tidy everywhere, the staff were all lovely, very helpful and friendly Breakfast was included in the booking so a great deal. Parking free and next to hotel"

"The room was super comfortable. But there was a cold spell! When I asked for more heat they responded immediately and I was given an electric heater that worked great. Very much appreciated. The walls are thin and noise in adjacent rooms or above is pretty loud. try for a top floor room or in the back!"

"I wish I’d just paid more to go to a chain hotel. This was terrible, the shower took 10 minutes to warm up by this point the bathroom was already flooded and the water was leaking into the bedroom floor. One of the great benefits was ‘FREE PARKING’ listed on their advert but I was in fact charged for parking for the few hours I was there overnight!!! Conveniently close to the airport but that’s about all that was good about this place."
