10. Moorville Hall Hotel

Stoke-on-Trent

"This is the worst hotel I have stayed on. We were put in the motel part, like pontins but 20 years older! Front door had light shining through it, light was hanging with loose wires, dead flies, spiders, cob webs, stains on sheets, bed side lights no light bulbs, grouting yellow in bathroom and windows held in with lose paint I did ring to complain but they weren't interested. The hole building needs knocking down. I got an email to say it's being refurbished, and to bear with them. If you...

11. Hollin House Hotel

"We stayed at Hollin Hose Hotel and unfortunately , the standard of the room was quite disappointing. The room felt very outdated and in need of refurbishment. The windows were extremely old and difficult to open, the bathroom door would not close properly, and the bathroom tap was loose and moved around when used. The carpet looks quite dirty and, in my opinion not ideal in the a hotel room. There was also a noticeable musty smell in both the room and corridor, with an unpleasant smell that...

14. The Pied Bull

Chester

"Don’t get me wrong, it’s rustic and charming with an interesting history and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was made to order and Sunday roast was impressive. All that’s good, but wear earplugs if you’re planning to get any sleep! The mattress was saggy and had very pokey springs. The location made it very noisy - weekends there are people partying in the streets until 3am and Monday at 4:30am the street-cleaner starts cleaning the block. Also the walls are really thin and we...

"The room was basic but clean. Worked well as a base for our Chester Zoo trip to avoid a rush in the morning. The hotel is quite dated but that didn't bother us. Unfortunately we were placed next to a long term stay who we heard hitting/kicking his dog during the night. This was reported and we were told it would be handled correctly. This spoiled our stay as we couldn't settle after this worrying about the poor dog. Breakfast was okay. Staff were friendly, but didn't seem to be many of them to...
