"There was a line for check-in upon arrival (3:30pm) and everybody who was checking in was told their rooms were not ready (even after 4pm check-in). It sounded like there was only 1 or 2 people cleaning the rooms), granted we only had to wait about 30 minutes for them to call me when the room was ready. The rooms were clean, hotel in a great location (why we chose it) as it is located in walking distance of many dining options, and the town adjacent to the harbor/bay. There are shopping plazas...

The one thing that could be problematic for older guests or guests with mobility challenges will need a conveyance vehicle, as it is a very, very large property. "Hotel was in good location in Hilo. From other reviews, they state this is the nicest hotel in Hilo. I would agree with that assessment, though the property could use a refresher. The area this hotel is located in is a bit rundown, homeless in the area. The hotel next door is shuttered which gave the area an abandoned feel. But I am not sure if there are any better areas in Hilo since it is a smaller town/city. Some food options in walking distance but I would recommend driving into town...

Kona Village is magical - the grounds, the hales (rooms), the spa, the yoga, the bikes to ride around the property and the stunning beach. But such a magical 5 star resort should also offer excellent cuisine and hospitality. We were shocked by the inconsistent food, the lack of variety and the room service which was never correct and delivered uncovered. We were so excited to return to our beloved Kona Village after 16 years but...

Our only complaint was that we wanted to extend our stay by another night and the front desk could not do it without waiting for the reservation staff to arrive which wasn't to happen until 10am. "We had a 3 bedroom, TV and bathroom in each. It was two levels. Fully stocked kitchen (dishes, utensils, pots/pans), washer/dryer, safe, 2 balconies in ours, and a pull-out sofa. It was clean. Chairs and couch were a little old and stiff, but everything you need! They even supply coffee, laundry and dishwasher soap. There is no housekeeping unless you have an issue, but that was just fine for us. They also supply pool towels. There is a pool, hot tub, exercise room, and game area with...
