"The hotel is under renovation so we could not stay there. Called hotels.com but was put on hold for a ridiculous 92minutes. Agent said will look for a vacancy nearby the amir hotel and get back to me, but did not get back to us after waiting for close to 2 hours. Walk in to a nearby hotel and was immediately offered a room. Waste my time, international call time, money and most importantly ruined the trip for me and my girlfriend. I wish to speak to the higher up of hotels.com for compensation."

"I booked and paid through EXPEDIA 1 room for 2 nights at Formosa Hotel, Batam, Indonesia. When my wife and I arrived at the hotel (by taxi), the hotel was totally CLOSED for renovation!!! It was not easy to find another hotel as we are not very familiar with other hotels in the area. Now let’s see how fast EXPEDIA will refund me. "

"More with Expedia. I booked a deluxe rm and paid to Expedia. But the hotel never received the booking and was fully book. Tried to use the Expedia app to communicate with the chat bot. It hangs and never been able to connect for at leasd 10 attempts. The hotel went out of their way to provide.me a spare room. But kt was old ans smells. Worse booking experience I had with Expedia. Money collected upfront with no confirmation from vendor, and non-existent support. "

The rooms were spacious, modern, and super comfortable, with city views that made mornings feel extra special. The location is a big highlight — close to shopping, food spots, and just a short ride to Batam’s main attractions. Perfect whether you’re here to relax or explore. Breakfast was excellent, with a wide spread of local and international options, and the hotel facilities like the pool and gym were clean, well-maintained, and relaxing after a day out. What really stood out was the staff — friendly, attentive, and always ready to help with a smile. You genuinely feel looked after. If you’re visiting Batam and want a stay that blends luxury, comfort, and convenience, Grand Mercure Batam is a fantastic choice. We’d happily stay here again."
