"We just came back from Datong. The weather is so cold and we were told it’s been the coldest days for this winter. We barely can walk outside for more than 2-5 minutes. It’s extremely cold on the day to Yungang Shiku, my toes and fingers felt frozen. Walking around in the accent city is almost impossible, so we gave up. Monday all the museums are closed. And our stay in Datong is Sunday and Monday, so we actually only visit Yungang Shiku on Sunday. Don’t recommend come to Datong in winter except you enjoy cold weather and don’t mind walking a lot to the centre of the city or around the centre of the city. Not sure whether public transportation available around the yard. We took taxi all the time because of the weather. Just ¥5-7 to the centre of the city.
