"Overall a really nice stay at the Wailea. Our room got upgraded to a fantastic ocean view room in the Chapel wing. The pools were fantastic and so much fun with all the water slides. We would always arrive mid to late morning.
The breakfast buffet was not as good as I had hoped. All the baked items (pancakes, waffles, pastries, etc.) were super underwhelming and didn't feel fresh.
One thing really bothered me that I'm having trouble letting go of it. I ordered two drinks at the pool bar. When I went back to order a third the bartender told me he lost my first receipt and asked me to sign a new receipt for a charge of 3 drinks. I did however when I asked to confirm that the first charge would not appear on my bill I wasn't totally confident in his answer. So I texted the front desk to ensure I wasn't being double charged. It took them 28 hours from my first test to get back to me with an answer. This caused me extra anxiety and worry during one of my vacation days that felt so unnecessary and really stained the service of the hotel. All over a $75 drink order.... I don't understand why they couldn't get an answer to me sooner and never really got an explanation.
The last thing is they have no place to shower off after check out for those who fly out later. We had a red eye and stayed at the hotel way beyond checkout time. I had to fly home covered in sand and chlorine. My husband used soap in the beach showers to get as clean as possible."
"Overall, it is a good hotel. But the room was EXTREMELY TINY. CLAUSTROPHOBIC TINY for a family of four, who reserved two beds. It was very difficult to have space for our luggage and comfortably walk around, eat food, ect. It is not what i expected from the pictures. It was a-lot smaller than pictured. The bathroom as well."
"We were in the "A" tower, which I loved the location and that it was a smaller tower (less people coming in and out, quieter) and our ocean view room had a great view of the ocean, pool and fireworks show. Our room was clean and refreshed daily but it just needs a update for wear and tear. As we were checking out the front desk told us they will be re-doing this tower soon. The resort is crowded...but the staff go out of their way to make everyone feel special. Everyone we interacted with at the hotel was so nice and not all guests are nice back to these people working hard to make their stay pleasant. The beach was wonderful, for $100 you can rent an umbrella and 2 chairs for the day and that was so worth it. The pools were crowded. The lagoon is really nice and was not crowded. It has ample beach, fish swimming in it for young snorkelers and it has no waves."
"Absolutely LOVED our stay here. Room was clean, modern and comfortable. Location is PRIME. Close to just about everything, great dining and shops and the beach is ACROSS the street. No more than a 10-15 minute walk gets you to even quieter and more remote beach locations. We honestly did realize how much we loved this hotel until we switched locations for the second part of our trip and we missed it! There IS street noise but ANY of the hotels in this location would have the same issue. By night 2 we barely noticed. It’s a busy part of the island! I’m a hospitality snob and truly would recommend this Hyatt to absolutely anyone!"
