"Location couldn’t be better, great that it has a car park, very pleasant in the hotel, a nice space to be. Reception staff were great, waiting on staff were a bit miserable, especially at breakfast. The bar area is lovely. Scaffolding and builders at your window were a drawback but maintenance has to be done. Bed was VERY hard, a bit too much for my liking. Feather pillows that squash virtually flat, should have asked for a foam option with hindsight! It was ok, I wouldn’t not go back but in my opinion the price premium is for location rather than an outstanding hotel experience"

"The best stay of our whole trip! Very clean, extremely comfortable, a lovely tea and coffee basket. Breakfast was better than going to a restaurant- fresh and hot, many choices and we were served in our room in total comfort. Alice most accommodating, very sweet and full of local information. "Gorgeous castle close to Edinburgh! So far the main areas are renovated and they are stunning. The aesthetic blends castle feel (gold mirrors, beautiful wooden buttresses, textured wallpaper) with fabulous modern touches (lighting and tiling). We stayed in suite 27 and it had luxurious touches throughout (copper bathtub, double headed shower, new tiling, beautiful new bed) mixed with remnants of the castle feel (tapestry headboard and ancient well (secured) . The bar was classy and had a wide array of wine and full bar on display. The dining room was gorgeous and we had a phenomenal dinner and breakfast. The library is a great spot to read and has a hidden whiskey room. Ask for the castle tour! So glad we stayed here!"

"We were quite surprised not to be greeted by an owner or manager on arrival. It also took some time to check in, as the doorbell was not working and we had to call the number provided that we saw after trying to knock and find something to use the door bell with. Overall, the location was good and the property itself was clean and tidy. However, we didn’t appreciate the roofing works being carried out without prior notice, particularly the loud banging and noise starting at 8am and debris on the path to the pedestrian gate."

"This place is amazing and steeped in history and at a very reasonable price however it is the staff which makes this place phenomenal, they cannot do enough for you to make this feel like a £400 a night experience.. stayed there for 8 weeks on buisness and loved it "
