I'm walking the Blvd. now after being down the Old Port. Portland has so many trails around the city, it was recently voted one of the top "Greenest" for hiking and the pedestrian in general. It's chilly, but the walk and the water together, make it all worth it.
Portland Head Lighthouse in Cape Elizabeth, Maine Constructed and lit in 1791 but was automated in 1989. It is free to walk around the grounds but for a couple dollars, there is a small museum you can visit, as well as a gift shop.

Popular places to visit

Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse is the only caisson-style light station in the USA that visitors can walk to. Located on the breakwater at Southern Maine Community College in South Portland.

Built in 1807 this is the last remaining maritime signal tower left in the USA. Local merchants paid the owner a yearly fee and he would watch for the different merchant ships to come into Portland Harbor then would raise the flag of the merchant the ship belonged to so they would know their ship had arrived.
