"This simple hotel makes staying in the middle of Lisbon affordable, and the location right off Rossio Square (metro station) is excellent if you get around by public transit. The rooms have the essentials (bed/s, chair, wardrobe), and there were five shared full bathrooms (toilet, washbasin, shower) on the floor I stayed at. Everything was old but kept very clean. The air conditioner in the room worked well to keep the heat at bay. The included breakfast buffet was very good, and when an early-morning activity kept me from going to breakfast, the staff made sure to pack me something to take along. Be aware that the reception is on the second floor and rooms can be up to two more floors higher up, and there is no elevator."

"Amazing hotel. From the friendliness of the staff to the remarkable beauty of the decor of the hotel , it was a perfect stay. The historical architecture and beautiful decor was so wonderful to be surrounded by on a daily basis. The atmosphere was calm and it seemed like we were staying at a home rather than a hotel. The morning breakfast was superb and surrounded by beautiful details such as the majestic chandeliers and embroidered tablecloths. All the details are well laid out. The bar is great as well. The attention to making the stay unique such as welcome us with pastéis de nata and chocolates in the room initiate the caring environment. They even left us a bag with the hotel emblem in the room that I use all the time. Getting into the hotel if you have a car is tricky but there will be someone there to park the car right away. Everything interesting is within walking distance. Restaurants, shopping, churches and green zones in the city are very close by. Hotel is right by the train station that can take guests to Porto and elsewhere in Portugal. We will definitely go back and experience the magical environment of Avenida Palace. The best sleep I have ever had as well. Great views and soft beds make for a very relaxing stay."

"Helpful staff, happy to store our luggage until checkin. Room was a little tight with our extra luggage but we made it work. Had a great quiet room looking toward the pool, which I took the opportunity to use. Refreshing but a little weird swimming in front of other evening patrons coming for dinner and drinks, as they installed a temporary television at the end of the pool to screen the Football World Cup. Clean property the could use a good carpet clean in the hallway and the room mat had stains also. Nice hotel overall."
