I recently stayed at the Hilton Paddington after booking via Expedia, and it was a disaster from start to finish. This property is a far cry from a 4-star experience and was easily one of my worst hotel stays.
The Main Issues:
• The "Key" Runaround: My room key failed to work three separate times. Each time, I had to trek back down to the lobby just to gain access to my own room. For a hotel of this scale, that level of technical failure is ridiculous.
• Substandard Rooms: The rooms are incredibly dated and show significant wear and tear. Worse, the air conditioning was completely broken, making the room stuffy and uncomfortable.
• Construction Zone: Despite paying full price, I was placed on a construction floor. Waking up to the noise and dust of a renovation site is not what I signed up for. It felt like they used my Expedia booking as an excuse to dump me in the worst available part of the building.
The Verdict:
Do not be fooled by the "Hilton" name or the convenient location. The service is poor, the infrastructure is failing, and the rooms are ancient. Stay away from this hotel—there are much better options in Paddington.
