"We were greeted at the counter by a woman who said she doesn't even work at the hotel, and then we were told she couldn't accept our online reservation. The hotel owner refused to give us a room unless we paid by the day, so he could get the non-discounted pay. We decided to leave and take our chances on finding a hotel last minute - during the peak of scalloping season and the weekend before the 4th of July.
