"Staff excellent, food good but disturbed sleep as the bedroom doors are heavy and although on a soft close mechanism , slam shut very loudly at the end . When checking out we mentioned this and were told they are aware and that hotel is due a refurbishment ..."

"Positives - location perfect for exploring Exeter and The Quay. Bathroom was nice and more recently refurbished. Carpark was straightforward but you pay. Bar man very helpful, went out of his way to find some peppermint tea, very grateful. Staff were friendly but no one explained about the £10 pp charge to swim… we were simply told we could use the leisure facilities while we stayed. It was cheap but a poor choice - no sleep, bedroom and communal areas tired. Bed had no mattress protector, one thin sheet straight on to an old lumpy mattress. This is surely not good practice, made me feel really icky, couldn’t settle and was meant to be a rare night to ourselves as a couple! Would really suggest investing in new beds, toppers or at the absolute least please use mattress protectors!! We booked on the basis of the proximity to Exeter and the pool, but we didn’t see the small print about £10 pp to use it. We didn’t bother for a £20 swim as the reviews of the pool were not great either! I would have rather paid more for the room to include the swim and mattress protector!! We didn’t have breakfast, everything seems to be an additional charge. Had a beautiful breakfast by the quay, 5 min walk, better value with a view. If you are not fussy where you sleep and want no frills, central location then it may suit, otherwise I would not recommend!"

"The hotel is very good, has a a big free car park.The reception staff are friendly and helpful. While on the ground floor the restaurant is also very good.The food is quality and big portions . The Wine and beer selection is good too.There are 2 lifts to the 4 levels .Each level has water coolers and easy chairs. Our room had 2 very comfortable double beds tv kettle hairdryer. Very clean and good quality. The bathroom is large and separate toilet. The rooms are air conditioned and quiet."

"We booked a room with a balcony with a view across the bay it was it was exactly what was described, but yet far better than our expectations. My husband has to use a crutch at the moment to get around ,from the time we parked the car there was a young man enthusiastically wanting to help him with luggage extremely polite, that continued during our stay, The staff at breakfast were equally considerate ensuring the our table was in a convenient spot, There was a wonderful section of fruits, pastries ,juices , cheese, ham the list is endless, the cooked breakfast had a equally good selection all cooked and presented to a great standard, (which can be challenged) We would have no hesitation on recommend the hotel it far exceeded our expectations. ( both my husband and l have both had excellent careers in the hospitality industry which the hotel was unaware of)"
