"I cannot recommend this hotel for disabled travellers or those travelling with disabled people. Unfortunately, the hotel misunderstands the laws set out in the Equalities Act of 2010. When pointed out the misunderstanding there was an unfortunate instance with the hotel manager not accepting that he had misunderstood the law. Because of this issue I was forced to find alternative accommodation. I found that the Manager’s inability to accommodate me and his refusal to accept that he had misunderstood the law. It is one of the hotels in that area with a step free entrance for wheelchair guests. As I am concerned about the misunderstanding when the law is very clear. If you are considering staying here as a disabled, I would recommend working with Expedia to make sure you’re going to get access. I did call the previous night to confirm. It didn’t seem to make a difference. I would like to mention that as a guest it is your decision where to stay. When deciding where to stay knowing the difficulties I experienced be taken into account when deciding where to stay."

"Location is really good but everything else was not. Building above the underground Tran so shanks all the time. Bed sucks, so small and very uncomfortable. Pillows paper thin. Steps were horrible, very difficult to get upstairs."

"Hotel is dated, but the room was clean and functional. Would have been nice if there was a kettle in the room. Breakfast is super basic, so don’t expect too much. However, super convenient to get to and from Paddington station."

"Had a wonderful stay at The Cumberland Hotel. The staff were very friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of fresh and tasty options every morning. The hotel was also very clean, and the rooms were well maintained. Great location and overall a very comfortable experience. Would definitely stay again!"

"Positives first: Absolutely great location, right next to Hyde Park a block from both Underground and bus line. The staff is wonderful, courteous and helpful. Having a kitchenette is a definite plus along with the daily water bottle, tea and biscuits. Areas to improve: Typical of UK hotels, the room was hot and stuffy. American's like face clothes in the bath, not just a hand and bath towel. Negatives: The 'lighted' makeup mirror in the bathroom did not light. The bathroom was extremely small (narrow). There is no food available on site. Not tragic as there are several good restaurants within a block walk. Overall, I would probably stay here again because of the great staff and wonderful location."

"Convenient to Paddington station and a great little hotel for a decent place to sleep. Basic but clean rooms. Note no A/C and opening the windows lets you hear the noise outside...which can be substantial. Also, as stated by the hotel, the close proximity to Paddington means you'll hear the trains go under - not terrible unless you're a light sleeper. Otherwise for its convenience to central London, a bargain and gem of a hotel."
