"This was a wonderful stay, at a really beautiful location. We had an ocean/bay view in pirate's pension & it was a fabulous room, like a mini suite complete with sink, microwave, mini fridge, coffee maker, couch & coffee table, dining table, & patio balcony, with table & chairs, even had a washer & dryer. Despite what listing said it definitely has towels, both room & pool towels. Room was clean. View is awesome. There is a lot of walking/stairs in this resort & even though it is not far, it is not easy to walk into town on those very steep mountain roads, especially in the heat. They do have golf carts that can drive you around the resort only but not to the bottom of the entrance. There is no free airport shuttle. Taxis are generally $12-15/pp & you are charger per person, each way. There is no Uber or Lyft. Car rental is VERY expensive (we were told $1400 for a jeep wrangler for 5 days) & it's often hard to find parking. I recommend taxis, but get the # of your driver & use the same one the whole time, they're very accommodating. You will likely have to share a taxi with others. Hotel amenities were simple but pretty great, a nice pool & hot tub, pool bar closed at 4p & then the open air on site restaurant is open til late & overlooks the pool & harbor also. There are some activities on certain nights like bingo or karaoke. You can (self guided)tour Blackbeard's historic castle for $5, which was pretty cool to see the 360* view at the top. Overall great & would return! "

"Don't plan on getting access to your room right away! We arrived 3 hrs. early and asked to check our bags as the room was not yet ready. We returned at check in time and still had to wait an additional 1.5 hrs. for check in. The room itself was fine. The bar on site did not opened until 5:30 pm and the restaurant was less than desirable in atmosphere, quality of food and more. the best thing about this Hotel is that it is walking distance from the Charolotte Amilie Ferry. If you're taking an early ferry and don't mind walking to town it may work for you. "

"It's ok. Convenient location, nice sized rooms. Be able to walk and climb many stairs to get to your room. Only 1 good option that is meh, staff is unresponsive, slow, and will just lie to make you go away and not deal with you on anything - even trivial things like getting a cab in the morning."

"I’ve traveled to various European destinations in Mexico and South America, but I’ve never encountered a five-star hotel with such a poorly maintained system. The patio was littered with discarded boards, and the shower leaked. The housekeeping left dirty towels in the rooms, and there were even dead roaches on the floor. My children had bites on their arms and legs when they woke up in the morning, which I suspect were bed bugs. I called the hotel and notified the front desk as soon as I left the resort to prevent future guests from being exposed to the same problem. Unfortunately, the management never returned my call. To make matters worse, several female staff members in the restaurant and bar by the beach were extremely rude. Clearly not worth the money spent."

"Nice place to stay. Clean. Close to airport. Great beach. My only negative was that I felt bad for the gentleman server in the morning. He had no help and did everything himself. The hotel needs more staff."

"Our room wasn’t ready and we had to wait quite awhile. There were never cookies in the lounge; always an empty try. Ran out of in room coffee packets and hotel said they didn’t have anymore. They brought blankets and sheets to the sofa bed upon request but only one pillow. Rooms were ok but just need a deep clean to get all the sand out of them. Hotel rooms inside ok, but outside needs updates with rotting wood. Stag just weren’t friendly. The young guy in the evening was nice but the others didn’t really care and I felt I was a bother when I walked into reception. We didn’t eat at the hotel restaurants Due to the bad reviews and ridiculously priced breakfast. The restaurants along Cane Bay are good though. Probably wouldn’t stay there again. "

"Clean room, attentive staff. The only thing i frowned upon was the breakfast food because everything, from the eggs to the bacon to the waffles tasted like fish. Perhaps the cooking oil used was previously used in cooking fish. Overall, I would 100% recommend this place to stay. It’s also economically friendly. "
