"The location of the Thistle is a huge asset. Although, like many travellers, we like the vibrant and diverse scene in London, the fact that the Thistle is a fine property across the street from Kensington Gardens means we were never more than a few steps away from a true metropolitain oasis, complete with attractive flower gardens as well as the Italian Gardens fountains and café. The staff at the Thistle are competent and helpful and the rooms comfortable. One aspect to note. We first stayed at the Thistle in the month of March a couple of years ago. Our eighth floor room gave us, for ten nights, a wonderful view overlooking the Kensington Gardens, perhaps even better because the trees were without leaves and we could see details of the Gardens' layout. This year, consulting Expedia, we found Thistle rates for a Gardens view room much more expensive than the rates for a standard room. Based on a week-long stay, this meant spending many hundreds of dollars more but we decided it was worth the additional expenditure. As it turned out we were placed on the fourth floor and faced directly into the tops of trees just a few feet from our window. So it was not the view we had hoped for and we'll be more careful in the future in room selection and pricing."

"Just spent nearly a week at the Copthorne Tara. Room was a bit shabby and dated ( although I don’t care about the latter), but clean. And for what I paid, the size of the room was great, and it was just a standard double. Staff helpful. Excellent location near the High Street Kensington Tube stop, and Hyde Park-Kensington Gardens, which is important to me because I love wandering through that park."
