"I always include the breakfast buffet in my room rate. It's an outstanding variety of choices to pick from."

Hotel Riu Palace Las Americas - Adults Only- All Inclusive
10/10 Excellent
"Clean rooms. They even organized our shoes (odd but appreciative). Our view was amazing! Food was good for inclusive as well but you’d have to stand in line to make it to the steak house (seated outside) and we never got that far"

Hotel Riu Cancun - Adults Only - All Inclusive
6/10 Okay
"We’ve been to 3 separate RIU locations and this was by far our least favorite. However, I think this is a case of you get what you pay for and realizing this is more of a younger demographic party resort. The rooms are very basic and outdated. The themed restaurants are only open for dinner whereas at other RIUs they are open for lunch as well. Otherwise you are stuck with the buffet, which was lacking more costly items like seafood. I really missed the piles of shrimp, mussels, crab, etc that were at other RIU buffets, or the larger seafood plate offerings even at the restaurants (more than just a skewer of shrimp on your steak). You had to take a 10 min shuttle (it was free though!) to go to and from every themed RIU party located at an affiliated RIU. Sadly no room service was available, and no Café with pastries. A lot of this makes sense since the main customers we came across were younger college kids clearly just coming to party, who may not care so much about these amenities. Nonetheless… The view from our room was beautiful, we loved viewing the lighthouse across the way each night, the beach was nice and clean for swimming, and the shows and activities at the resort were very good. The staff were friendly, accommodating, and pretty attentive to the unruly overly-intoxicated kids. Unfortunately we ran in to too many of those during our stay and less 34+ year olds like ourselves. Overall, it was a clean pretty well kept resort & we had a nice time soaking up the sun. "

"As usual a wonderful experience. Very vast spaces. No fee parking in a nice safe area. "

Occidental Tucancún All Inclusive
4/10 Poor
"My family and I recently returned from a 5-night stay at Tucancun for what we had hoped would be a relaxing vacation. Shortly after settling into our respective 'Premium' level family rooms, we began to discover that both rooms suffered from a poor level of maintenance. Several of the rooms' amenities were not functioning including a bathroom vent, electronic safe and extremely slow sink drain. We also began to see several cockroaches crawling on the floor and on countertops during the night. The next day I reported these concerns to workers manning both the Guest Services and Premium Lounge desks who said they would have these issues addressed right away and asked me to wait for them at our rooms which I did. After waiting for more than two hours, it occurred to me that nobody was coming to assist so I begrudgingly continued on with my evening. The next morning after that I sent a message to the property contact via the Expedia messaging system and have not yet received a response.
While the resort has some good points such as decent food and pleasant workers, based upon the poor condition of our rooms and lack of follow through by staff I recommend that those planning a Cancun trip should look elsewhere.
