"I only have 3 complaints… 1. the check in people at the main lobby are the most unhelpful people ever. We stayed in the ocean tower and had a heck of a time figuring out how to get there, even after asking the main lobby attendants no one told us we had to get there by tram so we drove around for 30 minutes trying to find our way, finally found it after being exhausted from all day travel. 2. "We were in town for the Merrie Monarch Hula Festival and The Grand Naniloa was a terrific hotel to stay in for the festival. Very convenient location in Hilo. Staff was friendly and the valet was super fast and they were working in overdrive for the festival. Lively hotel bar and nice markets. "First stayed at this hotel over 20years ago. As was the case then location is still beautiful over looking Hilo bay and next to magnificent gardens. Dined in the cafe on Saturday and Sunday nights as the restaurant only offered a rather expensive buffet. Hotel is showing its age in some respects but is still a nice place to stay. "

"My wife and I enjoyed it a lot. My wife likes to find varied places to read when at a resort. This was easily done. Dining was tasty...though at resort prices of course. The only real disappointment was they have a canal that can run boats along on a track. So you would have that option to use instead of the tram or walking since it's a large resort. But they were not running and I was told were being discontinued. Which is a shame as reviews of a night ride viewing the stars sounded...

"Overall, the facility was clean, comfortable, and enjoyable. Great king bed and bedding. The unit was well equipped. Our unit was ground level, which was nice. However, it was quite a distance from pool area, and parking closer to pool and lobby was limited. This inhibited our use of those amenities. "
